AHHH

I just got home from mexico, and can finally write about Harry Potter!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well. I don't know whether I liked it or not yet. I haven't had time to re-read yet because everyone on my trip was reading my book once I finished.
I knew Snape was good, and in love with Lily an' stuff. And I love him. And I sobbed when he died, and then there was the whole thing where "Snape might just have closed the door." I also couldn't believe Jo killed off Hedwig in like Chapter four. What the heck? You're not supposed to start crying in chapter four!
And Dudley's sweet. And who the heck was the person who "got magic later in life?" Ariana?
Speaking of her, I LOVED DUMBLEDORE'S LIFESTORY! And I still love him even though he's not so cool anymore. I also called the whole Barman-Aberforth thing.
Yay for Albus Severus Potter! And I just about died when Harry tells him about Slytherin and stuff. And when he saves Malfoy. And the Silver Doe, and Snape's "Always," and Dumbledore's "I sometimes think we sort too soon," and 'Tunia's letter to Dumbledore. Oh! And I died when George's ear came off. Yes. I cried at that part. But then I quadruple dies when Fred died. That's not fair! Twins can't have things like that happen!
And I want Hermione's beaded bag.
And that part where all three of them wanted a different one of the Hallows kicked butt. And I definitely teared up when the locket was all "I ship H/Hr!"
NEVILLE IS MY BOYFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is SO unfair that Teddy has to grow up without Remus and Tonks.
I LOVE PERCY!
When Ron came back I cried. I accidentally saw his name on the next page as I was reading, and i had to close the book and dance.
Luna rocks.
I loved the conversation with Dumbledore, and SNAPE'S MEMORIES OMFG I KNEW HE WAS GOOOOOOOD!
YAY for Canon!
YAY for JKR writing an encyclopedia!
YAY for Harry Potter!

Anyway, all that put aside, I cried so hard when it was over. I was on the airplane to Mexico, and I seriously didn't stop sobbing (loudly) for an hour after I finished, just because it was over. People on the plane were staring, and this girl kept on asking Betsy if I was ok. I think I was actually a bit of a spectacle because I kept trying to breathe without blowing snot everywhere, and the result was more gasping, and more hiding my face in my book. I still can't believe I'll never read another first word of a Harry Potter book for the first time.
Who else has read it? What did you think?
Also, my trip to Mexico was It was a mission trip, and we were in Guadalajara, Mexico. A bunch of the same kids we saw last year came back, whcih was really great. God is my favorite, and it was so cool to be with people who loved him and who would let me love him.
We would wake up, go take a cockroach-infested shower (if there wasn't a line), have a delicious breakfast, do some work (mostly painting), and then come back for free time. Then in the evening we had prayer time. There was a sermon thing sometimes, or a testimony (one girl had been healed of Chronic Epilepsy), then worship, then an altar call.
It was a lot like last year- lots of people praying in tongues, or using other gifts. But last year, it was a lot more about us praying for them, whereas this year it was more mutual. We also didn't have a translator this year, which made it harder, but much more fun and more community/relationship building.
It was good for me too-though at first I didn't think so. It was good for things God said while I was there, and things other people said, and things that were prayed over me. He was really working on us all. Actually, he kept it up till the very, very end. At the airport on the way home, everyone went to go to the bathroom and shopping an' stuff, so they left their bags with me because I was too...well, sad...to do anything. Father Tom waited too, and I guess he saw me trying not to cry becasue he kept saying things like "Oh. You're sad! You're gonna cry!" which of course made it worse. But anyway, eventually I was like "Gah stoppit! I hate saying goodbye" and then cried a bit. So he said that he thoguht it was a good thing, and that I have a tender heart, paired with a great deal of passion. He said that when he prays for me, God points out those things to him. This made me cry a bit, but it was amazing how much He kept ministering to me even as we left.
But it was uber hard to say bye again. I actually had a very cheerful goodbye with Christina this year, because I didn't know she was leaving for good. but at the airport it was awful. I love them all soooo much.
Anyway, it was a wonderful trip. :)

I couldn't help myself

I just had to do it. So here are my three favorite Harry Potter theories.

The infamous Snape loves Lily theory. Do I even have to go into it?

The "Harry is a Horcrux" theory, but with the added touch of dementors. This way, harry won't have to die in the end. A dementor will simply suck the piece of Voldemort contaminated soul from his body. Or perhaps not so simply. But yes. Why else would Jo have introduced creatures who could perform such a task?

It's much too complicated to say briefly, but in short, Florean Fortescue is the anscestor of Headmaster Fortescue (one of the portraits in Dumbledore's office), and, more importantly, the Heir of Gryffindor.
...And also Luna Lovegood might be the Heir of Ravenclaw. Which might be stretching it. Anyway, Here's the long, convincing story, with actual evidence.

Harry Potter...

I know this will get me about ten million youranerd looks, but I just realized something while re-reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban.
At the Christmas feast, Trelawney comes in and has this fuss over the fact that there are 12 people at the table, and she makes 13. She says that the first to rise at a table of 13 will be the first to die. But what she doesn't know is that Scabbers is there as well, which means that the first to rise, excluding Trelawney, will be the first to die- and Dumbledore stands up when Trelawney enters. Whoot. Crazy forshadowing.

Yay for Harry Potter!

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don’t search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.

"And you, each of you, were with him."

Snow day!

Yay! Snow day! I love the snow, and I love Christmas, and I love not having school. So today has been wonderful. I woke up (for the second time, after my dad had told me school was canceled) and thought it was all a dream, so you can imagine my surprise when the clock read 10:00. But I didn't waste a minute after that, and have accomplished many things today. For instance, I looked at my knitting, and decided not to knit, I looked at my bag, and decided not to study, and I consumed many a cup of tea and hot chocolate. I also got very cold, and very wet, and read Harry Potter out loud to my friend Lauren. And I watched a Russel Crowe film, so I am very, very happy.
I'm hoping we don't have school tomorrow either, but I know I have to edit my movie, or it won't get entered into the scholastic festival. But it's snowing, so what do I care for worries? Anyway, we also don't have a car, so we're quite literally snowed in. Yay. This is the absolute best thing ever.

Zingela baba

Well, the wedding on Saturday went wonderfully, and we got to stay for the second wedding, where they got "extra married". There were several jokes like this ("So Joel, where are you getting married tomorrow?) which I'm sure my uncle did not appreciate. Along with being my favorite uncle, he's a Russian Orthodox priest (which means he hasn't shaved or cut his hair for ages, and he wears a black robe, among other things.) and it was mostly for him that they had the second wedding, in addition to the Methodist wedding. It was absolutely fascinating to be there for both. The Methodist wedding was quite a lot like my church (which is Episcopalian) only even less like the Catholic church. But the Russian Orthodox was something different altogether. The church was very small, and beautifully decorated. There were "icons" all over, which are paintings of the saints, as far as I could tell. I asked my uncle about them (I always get this fear of idol worshiping whenever I see them) and he said they're his "friends" and it's like each one is a window into heaven, so that each of these saints are there with us. The way he explained it made it all very comfortable and believable. They don't pray to them at all, so that banished all thoughts of idolatry. We stood the entire time, but I didn't much mind (though after hearing that it had been an hour long, my feet started to ache). He sang through the entire thing, and I have to admit I enjoyed it. I really, really, really love the Episcopal church, and I should probably research more about it, pray more about it, and talk more to my uncle, and my church's priest before I make any decisions, but I'm thinking about becoming Russian Orthodox.... It would be a HUGE change, though, so I don't really know yet.

Anyway, the reception was nice too, and I danced with all my uncles and made fun of my Aunt Lynn for wearing her "dancing glasses", and it was all good. My cousin Miri (the groom's sister) brought her boyfriend Rory, who danced with me. He was quite the charmer, and the topic for gossip amongst the aunts and grandma. He's not christian, so he, and the whole thing about my uncle not recognizing that they were married until they had a Russian Orthodox wedding (I don't think it's all that bad, but the rest of my family is very protestant...) were all I heard about while sitting in the HOT car driving to and from St. Louis.

Other than weddings, not much is going on. I'm coming back Thursday, so we haven't got much time to do anything. I saw a used book sale at the mall on Sunday, but couldn't stop because we had to get to the second wedding. :( I was really upset, because I saw some really good looking books, and they were all really old.... Oh well. My cousin Andrew got his ribs flipped over, or something, recently. He was born with one side of his ribcage curved inward, and he's just gotten surgery. (!!!) Not sure how any of it happened, but there you are.

Now that you're all caught up on the happenings in the Moser family, I'm going to go do something. Goodbye, and Happy late Independence Day!

CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

Well, as I was kindly reminded today, (thanks, by the way. I'd kind of forgotten...) I haven't updated in...six weeks?

Well, mostly because I've been so busy with summery things, and also because nothing much has happened. I'm in Wisconsin at the moment, visiting my favorite cousin, and her brother and parents and fiance. We're going to see my other cousin's wedding in St. Louis on Saturday (98 degrees Fahrenheit, rain and thunderstorms. Lovely.)

I have a new, turquoise addition to my teeth now. BRACES! Horray! They haven't hurt a bit, except for a few cuts on the insides of my cheeks, and I'm totally used to them now.
My dad got his hip replaced about two weeks ago (wow. Time flies) and he's doing fantastic. I hear from my brothers that he's been walking around in white tights (to help with blood circulation) and black crocs. :)

At the end of July, I'm going to Guadalajara, Mexico on a mission trip with a group from my church. The dioces there has completely fallen apart because of this awful bishop who stole money from them. Anyway, we'll be working with the youth there, and it'll be wonderful!

I just saw a really, really, really fantastic movie about global warming. So everyone should see An Inconvenient Truth. PLEASE see it.

I'm on the fourth HP book now (I didn't think I'd get through them this fast. I reckoned on needing the entire year to finish before #7, but I guess I somehow forgot how good they are.) and loving it...though not as much as I'm looking forward to the fifth one.

The state competition for History Day was yesterday, up on the CU campus in Boulder. It was pretty fun. My play (Women of the American Revolution: Silently Taking a Stand) won 3rd place, so we just missed Nationals (only 1st and 2nd go to DC). But we had fun, and walked to Pearl street, and played in a creek. Horray.
Then I went home and watched Les Mis, trying to ignore Michael and Walker's annoying comments about Ruthie Henshall's voice. Gr.
